Rates and Insurance

Dr. Phillips is a credentialed provider with the health insurance providers listed below.  If you have health insurance through one of these providers, Dr. Phillips fees are based on the insurance company's allowed charges which represent a reduction from her usual fees.  Specific health insurance policies vary considerably in their benefits for behavioral health.  If you are insured by one of these companies, you should contact your provider and inquire (1) as to whether you will have to meet your deductible before the insurance coverage begins for behavioral health and (2) what portion of the allowable charge wil be covered by insurance.  In Dr. Phillips' experience, some policies do not require that your deductible be met, and require that you pay a set co-pay per visit (usually $20 - $40) while others require that your deductible be met and then that you pay a percentage (usually 20% - 50%) of the allowed charge.  Thus, it is important for you to inquire about your specific behavioral health benefits to understand your financial commitment to your child's therapy.

If you have health insurance through one of these providers, Dr. Phillips will file your insurance claims for you, and you will be expected to pay your portion of the fees at the time of your appointment.

If you have health insurance through another company (other than the ones listed), you are responsible for Dr. Phillips' regular fees, and you can file for re-imbursement with your insurance provider. Because there are no other child psychologists located within 50-100 miles of Broken Bow, some insurance companies have entered into out-of-network contracts that provide in-network benefits for specific consumers.  Therefore, you may want to contact your insurance company and inquire as to what benefits if any are provided for behavioral health for an out-of-network provider.  If your policy does not provide any such benefits, you might want to ask for a referral to an in-network child psychologist in order to find a professional with credentials similar to those of Dr. Phillips.

Accepted Insurance Providers

  • Blue Cross/Blue Shield
  • Health Choice
  • Oklahoma Health Network
  • Soonercare

With the above insurance companies, Dr. Phillips has an agreement to charge the patient at the rate allowed by the insurance company.  In these cases,  Dr. Phillips bills the patient at  the insurance company's rates and the patient's portion of the bill is based on the insurance company's allowed rate.  The patient's portion of a 55 minute session (after deductible is met if necessary) typically varies from $20.00 to $50.00 per session.

If you have health insurance with one of the above companies, you should contact your insurance company (at the phone number on the back of your card) and ask about your Behavioral Health benefits for an in-network provider.

Your policy may or may not require that you meet your deductible before you are provided benefits.  Your insurance may require that you pay a set co-pay for each visit or it may require you to pay a percentage of the charges (usually in this case, your percentage will be 20% - 50% of your company’s rate).  Your portion of the charges should be paid at each visit, whether a percentage or an office visit co-pay.

Some specific policies require Prior Authorization for Behavioral Health benefits.  If your insurance plan requires this, Dr. Phillips will need a copy of your insurance card, your address, the subscriber’s name, and the name and birth date of your child to obtain the Prior Authorization prior to your first appointment.  If you are uncertain about whether your policy requires Prior Authorization, please be prepared to pay your company’s Allowable rate at your first session OR please provide the information requested and Dr. Phillips will get this information for you prior to your first session.

If you are insured by one of the above companies, Dr. Phillips will accept  payment at the rate set as Allowable by your insurance company per her agreement with your insurance company.  For any of the above companies, Dr. Phillips will file your insurance claim for you.

Note for Soonercare clients:   If your child is covered by this program and not covered by any other health insurance, Soonercare generally covers the cost of psychotherapy in full.  If your child is covered by Soonercare and also by another health insurance program, you must follow the guidelines of the other insurance company (which may require that you use a provider credentialed with their program as your provider) before Soonercare will provide coverage.  Thus, you must go to a provider credentialed with your other insurance company before Soonercare will provide any benefits.

Other Insurance Providers

If you are covered by a health insurance provider other than those listed above, you should contact your insurance company and ask about Behavioral Health benefits for an out-of-network provider.  If you are not satisfied with the coverage which they will provide for you to see Dr. Phillips, then you should ask them for a referral to a Clinical Child Psychologist or Pediatric or Developmental Psychologist in order to find a professional covered by your insurance with similar credentials.  If no similarly credentialed professional is available near your home location, sometimes insurance companies will contact Dr. Phillips for you and negotiate an agreement for your insurance to cover her services (these agreements are often called "Ad-Hoc Agreements or "Single Case Agreement").

If you are covered by an insurance company with which Dr. Phillips is out-of-network, but you choose to seek her services, then Dr. Phillips will provide you with a receipt which will provide you with all of the information you will need to seek re-imbursement at the out-of-network rate from your health insurance company.  You will be responsible for all charges at the time of the appointment at the rates listed on the STANDARD RATES section of this page.

*Parenting Issues (No identified patient): Dr. Phillips provides parent education/consultation about general parenting concerns and child psychology issues, even without an identified patient.  These sessions are designed to help parents navigate parenting issues through addressing and communicating  each parent’s values with regard to child-rearing early in the parent-child relationship.  Ideally these sessions function as pre-marital therapy does to a marital relationship, the earlier the better - even prior to the birth of the child is not considered too early.

Specific topics that may be addressed in these sessions:  Parental values, child temperament, what you can/not influence, what you can/not control, bonding/attachment, discipline techniques (advantages and disadvantages of various techniques), developmental  milestones, red flags in child development, fostering self-esteem in your child, and many others.  These services are not covered by insurance as they are preventative and not therapy for a specific child.  The rate for these services is $200.00 for 60 minutes.  Call for more information on tailoring these sessions to your needs, concerns and questions.
